Family Action Network of Winchester
FAN's Mission
The Family Action Network (FAN) is a non-profit organization which seeks to facilitate the exchange of ideas, to provide parenting resources, and to offer a support network for Winchester families with infants and small children. Volunteers accomplish these goals by implementing programs such as playgroups, children’s events, and parent social events. We seek to serve as a comprehensive resource, acting to unify Winchester ’s programming for families. A newsletter is produced bi-monthly with information and ideas for our members. We also publish a local resource guide geared towards families as well as a comprehensive preschool survey. FAN’s community outreach program implements initiatives focused on bringing families together for community building and charitable initiatives that help to teach children the importance of giving to others. FAN is a volunteer organization that thrives because of the enthusiasm and energy of its members. All of FAN’s programs are organized and run by volunteer committees and we are led by a board made up of committee chairs. The public is encouraged to attend the April Board meeting where they can learn more about FAN and provide input on how FAN can best meet the needs of the community.
FAN Community Awareness
One of the hopes many of us share is that we live in an area with a strong sense of community that comes together to work towards common goals, communicates with each other and that teaches our children the importance of giving to others. FAN is pleased to announce its launch of a community outreach program that will help foster these goals. The outreach program will facilitate initiatives that will take place either during regularly scheduled FAN events or on individual projects. We will have programs geared towards the enhancement our town with new landscapes, clean parks and promoting recycling efforts. We will also seek to develop and nurture relationships with our families and our senior citizens through collaboration with the Jenks Senior Center. We have many other exciting initiatives this year and we encourage you and your family to join us in helping to make a difference!
